Bryan Mickleburgh’s talent as a sculptor gained recognition in 1991 when he produced a bust of Buffalo Bill, William Cody. This was initially exhibited in the American Museum in Bath and was then accepted by the Royal Academy of Art where it was on show during 1992. It was subsequently exhibited in Harrods’ window and was eventually purchased by the co-ordinator of the “Back trailing Buffalo Bill Society” in the United States.

On recommendation, Bryan was then approached to produce the life-size statue of Buffalo Bill for the American people, which now stands in Cody Park, North Platte, Nebraska, the home of William Cody.  The statue was presented to the American People at a ceremony in the American Embassy in London, which was attended by the Mayor of Nebraska. Bryan holds a letter from the then President, William Clinton, thanking him for his work. This statue has been valued by Lloyds of London at £250,000. Following this project Bryan received numerous commissions from the United States and elsewhere. Museums and private collectors around the world now exhibit his work.

His work is highly prized in Britain and he is now expanding his repertoire from the Wild West to feature other subjects and materials. The ballet shoes in tribute to Margot Fonteyn are an example. He is particularly talented at capturing the features of a subject in bronze. Bryan produces limited editions of not more than 10 per piece, or single works of art on request.

One of his recent works, a bronze bust of Roy Rogers, was presented to his son, Dusty Rogers, on the 18th June 2005 and is exhibited in the new Roy Rogers Museum, Branson, Missouri.
